The NEWBREED MID FLORIDA CHAMPIONSHIP will take place on October 3, 2026, at the MIDFLORIDA Event Center in Port St. Lucie, Florida. This event features both gi and no-gi competitions, catering to a wide range of grappling enthusiasts.
NEWBREED built its reputation on athlete-safety-first rules, and the Mid Florida Championship runs on that same framework: youth divisions for 11-and-under competitors exclude submissions entirely, while older youth and adult brackets layer in standard BJJ finishes. Divisions are split into Youth Group 1 (ages 4-11) and Youth Group 2 (12-17) for kids, skill-level brackets -- Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced -- for no-gi adults, and standard current-belt divisions for gi competitors, with any gi color permitted. This edition takes place Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the MIDFLORIDA Event Center in Port St. Lucie, Florida, with both gi and no-gi divisions on the schedule. NEWBREED (the NEWBREED Jiu-Jitsu Federation) is a US tournament circuit whose federation was established in 2012. It runs 100+ tournaments a year nationwide with kids-through-adult gi and no-gi divisions and digital bracket management, culminating in The Ultimate Grappler (TUG), its elite no-gi absolute finale.
NEWBREED runs a long-established tournament circuit (including its Ultimate Challenge events) with gi and no-gi divisions for kids and adults, grouped by age, weight, and experience level. It's a high-volume regional circuit that many competitors use for regular local competition.
NEWBREED publishes its own rulebook with an explicit emphasis on athlete safety, and technique legality scales with age and division level. Read the current NJJF rules before competing — division structures and legal techniques are spelled out there.
