Event Description
Newbreed's Winter Championship swings through Greenville, South Carolina this December, bringing the promotion's signature gi and no-gi format to Legacy Early College. As with every Newbreed event, safety comes first — no submissions for the 11-and-under crowd — while older youth, teens, and adults compete in belt-based gi brackets alongside no-gi divisions split by experience rather than rank, in any gi color. The tournament runs December 5, 2026 at 900 Woodside Ave in Greenville. It's designed for a full range of competitors, from first-timers in Beginner no-gi to seasoned black belts, and there's no outside federation membership needed to enter. Register via the Smoothcomp link on Let's Roll; the sign-up window closes the Tuesday before the event, with a hard final deadline of 5pm the day before.

About NEWBREED
NEWBREED (the NEWBREED Jiu-Jitsu Federation) is a US tournament circuit whose federation was established in 2012. It runs 100+ tournaments a year nationwide with kids-through-adult gi and no-gi divisions and digital bracket management, culminating in The Ultimate Grappler (TUG), its elite no-gi absolute finale.
Rules
NEWBREED runs a long-established tournament circuit (including its Ultimate Challenge events) with gi and no-gi divisions for kids and adults, grouped by age, weight, and experience level. It's a high-volume regional circuit that many competitors use for regular local competition.
NEWBREED publishes its own rulebook with an explicit emphasis on athlete safety, and technique legality scales with age and division level. Read the current NJJF rules before competing — division structures and legal techniques are spelled out there.
