Organized by FUJI BJJ
Grand Rapids, MI hosts the FUJI BJJ Summer Championship on August 22, 2026, with gi and no-gi divisions open to all belts as part of FUJI BJJ's regional summer series.
FUJI BJJ brings its well-established tournament format to Grand Rapids for a summer championship built around standard age, belt, and weight divisions in both gi and no-gi. FUJI allows a 2-pound weigh-in allowance to take some of the stress out of cutting weight, and competitors who sign up for both gi and no-gi get a combo discount on registration. Bracket formats scale with division size to help guarantee competitors more than one match. The tournament is set for August 22, 2026 in Grand Rapids, MI. It's a good fit for competitors of any level, from kids just starting out to adults and masters looking for a well-run local event. Spectators over 12 pay a $20 gate fee, and each competitor gets one coach pass for their corner. Register through FUJI BJJ's Smoothcomp event page.
Registration deadline: August 18, 2026
FUJI BJJ is the tournament series run by Fuji Sports, the martial-arts gi and apparel brand, launched in 2007. It runs gi and no-gi events for kids through adults across roughly ten US regions, using IBJJF-style point scoring.
FUJI BJJ runs one of the larger tournament circuits in the United States, with gi and no-gi divisions for kids and adults and a reputation for beginner-friendly, well-organized events.
FUJI's scoring is closely based on IBJJF rules: the same positional point values, advantages for near-scores and submission attempts, and a similar penalty structure. Match times scale with belt — roughly 5 minutes at white belt up to 8 minutes for brown and black belts — so IBJJF competitors will find the format immediately familiar.
Always confirm the official rulebook before you compete — organizations update rules between seasons. See the official event page for current rules.
