Forte Jiu Jitsu was founded in 2024 by black belt Luke Boston, whose approach centers on high-quality grappling rooted in a blend of Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Catch Wrestling. Luke’s philosophy is to empower as many people as possible to step on the mat and grow, emphasizing that grappling is for everybody. The academy was created for students eager to celebrate their teammates, push themselves, and build a true understanding of the art—whether their goals are self-defense, competition, or fitness. Classes at Forte combine structured fundamentals with advanced techniques, always tailored to the needs of the students in the room. The core curriculum covers both gi and no-gi formats. Gi classes focus on classic Jiu-Jitsu movements and mindset, while no-gi sessions introduce the full scope of submission wrestling, including leg locks, takedowns, and tactics drawn from Catch Wrestling. Advanced classes in both styles challenge students with competition-ready techniques and deeper strategic concepts. Coach Luke is known for his patient, detailed teaching and his ability to adjust instruction for all experience levels, creating athletes who truly understand the why behind each movement. The academy welcomes visitors and drop-ins, and it is not uncommon to find multiple black belts on the mat sharing knowledge. Alongside Jiu-Jitsu, Forte also offers a structured boxing program with progressive certification levels. Regular open mats give students the chance to experiment and roll with a variety of training partners. Located on West Indian School Road in Phoenix, the facility is wheelchair accessible and designed to make grappling accessible to all.
