Ares BJJ Phoenix

Ares BJJ Phoenix is led by Professor Jacob Lee Erdman, a black belt under Professor Osvaldo “Queixinho” Moizinho, founder of the Ares BJJ team. Jacob earned every belt under Queixinho’s guidance and now teaches both kids and adults at the Phoenix academy. His own competition record includes podium finishes at IBJJF World Masters and regional IBJJF Opens, and he is known for his hands-on coaching and willingness to help students at every stage. Assistant instructor Keven Carrasco, also a black belt under Queixinho, brings a decorated competitive background, including titles at the IBJJF World and Pan Am championships. The academy’s programs are structured for a full spectrum of ages and experience levels. There are dedicated classes for kids, teens, adults, and women, allowing students to progress in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with peers in similar stages of development. Instruction draws on the Ares lineage, combining technical details from Queixinho’s Rio de Janeiro roots with practical training developed through years of competition in the United States. Students benefit from a realistic, skill-focused approach that emphasizes both self-defense and sport jiu-jitsu. Ares BJJ Phoenix has an open mat policy for adults and welcomes visitors to train. The facility is wheelchair accessible and designed to support families, with parents encouraged to participate or observe. The gym’s leadership is committed to providing a safe, encouraging environment for learning and growth, reflecting the values of the Ares team and its instructors’ own journeys through the art.
