The Chicago BJJ Open runs Saturday, October 10, 2026, with double-elimination gi brackets for every belt and age division. Tap Cancer Out is a jiu-jitsu-community 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has run BJJ tournaments since 2012, channeling the sport's competitive energy into cancer fundraising — competitors fundraise for free tournament entry at gi and no-gi events for all ages and belts. Since 2012 it has supported 25 beneficiary organizations and raised over $9 million for cancer research and patient support.
Rules
Tap Cancer Out is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that runs BJJ tournaments to raise money for cancer-fighting organizations — competitors fundraise as part of registration, and event proceeds are donated. Events offer gi and no-gi divisions for kids and adults across belt levels.
On the mat, matches run under a points-based ruleset that follows familiar IBJJF-style scoring conventions, so competitors coming from IBJJF or similar events will recognize the point values and structure.
