The NEWBREED Virginia State Championship will take place on November 7, 2026, at the Henrico Sports Complex in Richmond, VA. This event will feature both gi and no-gi competitions.
Event Description
The Virginia State Championship is one of Newbreed's marquee stops, running the promotion's full safety-conscious format -- Youth Group 1 (4-11, no submissions) and Group 2 (12-17) divisions, skill-level brackets for no-gi adults, and belt-based gi divisions with any gi color accepted. No outside federation membership is required to compete. The championship is held November 7, 2026, at the Henrico Sports Complex (1 All Star Blvd, Glen Allen, VA), just outside Richmond. Registration closes the Tuesday before the event, with a final cutoff the day before at 5pm -- sign up at newbreedbjj.smoothcomp.com, linked on Let's Roll.

About NEWBREED
NEWBREED (the NEWBREED Jiu-Jitsu Federation) is a US tournament circuit whose federation was established in 2012. It runs 100+ tournaments a year nationwide with kids-through-adult gi and no-gi divisions and digital bracket management, culminating in The Ultimate Grappler (TUG), its elite no-gi absolute finale.
Rules
NEWBREED runs a long-established tournament circuit (including its Ultimate Challenge events) with gi and no-gi divisions for kids and adults, grouped by age, weight, and experience level. It's a high-volume regional circuit that many competitors use for regular local competition.
NEWBREED publishes its own rulebook with an explicit emphasis on athlete safety, and technique legality scales with age and division level. Read the current NJJF rules before competing — division structures and legal techniques are spelled out there.
