Newbreed built its reputation on athlete-safety-first rules -- youth 11-and-under divisions skip submissions entirely, ties in no-gi go to sudden-death overtime while gi ties are settled by referee decision, and no outside federation membership is required to compete. The Hickory Fall Championship (held in Brevard) brings that format to western North Carolina with Youth Group 1 (4-11) and Group 2 (12-17) divisions plus adult brackets by belt and no-gi skill level. About Newbreed
NEWBREED (the NEWBREED Jiu-Jitsu Federation) is a US tournament circuit whose federation was established in 2012. It runs 100+ tournaments a year nationwide with kids-through-adult gi and no-gi divisions and digital bracket management, culminating in The Ultimate Grappler (TUG), its elite no-gi absolute finale.
Rules
NEWBREED runs a long-established tournament circuit (including its Ultimate Challenge events) with gi and no-gi divisions for kids and adults, grouped by age, weight, and experience level. It's a high-volume regional circuit that many competitors use for regular local competition.
