Southside Jiu Jitsu Club in Chicago was founded by Solomon “Solo” Dixon, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt under Adem Redzovic, whose own lineage runs through Carley Gracie. Dixon also has a 2-0 amateur MMA record, giving the academy a founder story that connects traditional Gracie lineage with modern combat-sports experience. The current program includes gi and no-gi jiu jitsu, fundamentals, kids and women’s classes and open mat. The academy also offers private and semi-private training with black-belt instructors, and its South Side location gives Chicago grapplers an alternative to the concentration of BJJ gyms farther north and downtown. For students in Chicago’s South Side and nearby Evergreen Park or Oak Lawn, the academy’s strongest differentiator is local ownership and lineage. Dixon built the school specifically for this part of the city, and his connection through Redzovic to Carley Gracie gives the academy a documented technical family tree behind its neighborhood identity.
