Marcio Andre Brazilian BJJ Academy has anchored Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Phoenix’s Ahwatukee neighborhood since 2019, shaped directly by the vision and experience of Marcio André himself. A third-degree black belt with multiple world titles—including Nogi World, Pan American, and European championships—Marcio leads the academy as both owner and head instructor. His teaching draws on years spent instructing in Brazil, Abu Dhabi, and the United States, offering students direct access to one of the sport’s most accomplished competitors of his generation. The academy’s class structure is carefully organized by age and experience. Children as young as three can start in preschool BJJ, while kids’ and teens’ classes progress from beginner to advanced levels, with a separate homeschool program available during the week. Adults and teens (12+) train together in both morning and evening sessions, with dedicated beginner and advanced classes. Friday evenings feature a kids’ no-gi class, and women’s-only training is offered every Saturday. Open mat sessions on weekends provide an additional chance for members to train in a less formal setting. Marcio André’s personal approach is evident throughout the curriculum—emphasizing realistic, practical jiu-jitsu and a safe, family-oriented environment. The coaching staff includes instructors like Bobby Green, a first-degree black belt under Marcio and a world champion at the master division. Whether students are aiming for competition or personal development, the academy’s programs reflect Marcio’s commitment to technical excellence and lifelong learning on the mats.
