Dark Horse Combat Club in Denver is led by Professor Andrew “The Dude” Dudderar, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Amal Easton. Andrew brings decades of experience to the mats, having started his BJJ journey in 1999 with Rafael Lovato Sr., then spending two years training in Rio de Janeiro before earning his brown belt from Carlos Gracie Jr. and his black belt from Easton. His lineage traces directly through Mitsuyo Maeda, Carlos Gracie Sr. and Jr., and Helio Soneca. Andrew’s personal competition highlights include podium finishes at the IBJJF Master’s World Championships and World Championships, reflecting a deep commitment to both sport and technical excellence. The academy offers a full slate of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes structured for all levels, including fundamentals, all-levels, and intermediate+ sessions. Specialized training includes an Endurance class with a focus on drilling and sparring, a Women’s Class led by Arianna Gracia that is free for all women, and youth programs with a dedicated coach. The club also features Muay Thai and MMA, taught by Dave Tamarchenko, who has a broad background in striking and self-defense instruction. Open mat sessions are available and welcome experienced practitioners from any academy, with flexible drop-in options and no strict uniform requirements. Dark Horse runs classes throughout the week, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, making it accessible for a variety of schedules.
