ATEMI-RYU NC

ATEMI-RYU NC in Fayetteville is led by Shihan Anthony Bain, who opened the school in 2013 as a 3rd-degree black belt and has since advanced to 6th Degree. The academy teaches a modern branch of Atemi Ryu Jujitsu, a system designed with a shorter learning curve to equip students with practical self-defense skills quickly. While it honors traditional martial arts principles, the curriculum remains adaptable, allowing techniques and strategies to evolve based on real-world application. Students at ATEMI-RYU train primarily in gi-based Jujitsu classes for both adults and kids, with a clear progression from fundamentals to more advanced concepts. The school also offers classes in Arnis, a Filipino stick fighting art, women’s kickboxing, and Aikido for younger students, reflecting a broader martial arts approach beyond grappling. Open mat sessions provide additional training time for all levels to drill and spar in a less structured environment. The instructors emphasize innovative thinking, encouraging students to apply familiar techniques in new ways and adapt fluidly to different situations. This focus on practical adaptability, combined with a diverse class schedule that includes striking and traditional weapons, shapes the academy’s distinct approach to martial arts education in Fayetteville.
