The NEWBREED Raleigh Winter Championship is scheduled for December 12, 2026, at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. This event will feature both gi and no-gi competitions.
Event Description
Raleigh's stop on the Newbreed Winter Championship tour lands at the NC State Fairgrounds Expo Center, one of the promotion's larger East Coast venues. Expect the full Newbreed format: no-submission rules for youth 11 and under, belt-based gi brackets for everyone older, and no-gi divisions organized by experience (Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced) so newer grapplers aren't thrown in against seasoned veterans. Any gi color is allowed, and ties are broken by sudden-death overtime in no-gi or referee decision in gi. The event takes place December 12, 2026 at 4825 Trinity Rd in Raleigh. Whether you're a white belt looking for your first competition or a black belt chasing a Winter Championship title, registration runs through Newbreed's Smoothcomp page (linked on Let's Roll), closing the Tuesday before the event with a final cutoff at 5pm the day before.

About NEWBREED
NEWBREED (the NEWBREED Jiu-Jitsu Federation) is a US tournament circuit whose federation was established in 2012. It runs 100+ tournaments a year nationwide with kids-through-adult gi and no-gi divisions and digital bracket management, culminating in The Ultimate Grappler (TUG), its elite no-gi absolute finale.
Rules
NEWBREED runs a long-established tournament circuit (including its Ultimate Challenge events) with gi and no-gi divisions for kids and adults, grouped by age, weight, and experience level. It's a high-volume regional circuit that many competitors use for regular local competition.
NEWBREED publishes its own rulebook with an explicit emphasis on athlete safety, and technique legality scales with age and division level. Read the current NJJF rules before competing — division structures and legal techniques are spelled out there.
