Event Description
NEWBREED's New Jersey Fall Championship keeps the promotion's athlete-first approach front and center, with age-based youth divisions that skip submissions for the youngest kids and skill-tiered no-gi brackets (Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced) that keep new competitors out of brackets stacked with veterans. Gi divisions run by current belt in any gi color, and both formats compete at the same venue on the same day. The Fall Championship runs September 5, 2026 at Metuchen Sports Complex, 215 Durham Ave, Metuchen, NJ, serving the dense Central Jersey BJJ scene. Register through NEWBREED's Smoothcomp event page (linked from newbreedusa.com); standard sign-up closes the Tuesday before the event, with a final cutoff the day before at 5pm. No outside federation membership is required to compete.

About NEWBREED
NEWBREED (the NEWBREED Jiu-Jitsu Federation) is a US tournament circuit whose federation was established in 2012. It runs 100+ tournaments a year nationwide with kids-through-adult gi and no-gi divisions and digital bracket management, culminating in The Ultimate Grappler (TUG), its elite no-gi absolute finale.
Rules
NEWBREED runs a long-established tournament circuit (including its Ultimate Challenge events) with gi and no-gi divisions for kids and adults, grouped by age, weight, and experience level. It's a high-volume regional circuit that many competitors use for regular local competition.
NEWBREED publishes its own rulebook with an explicit emphasis on athlete safety, and technique legality scales with age and division level. Read the current NJJF rules before competing — division structures and legal techniques are spelled out there.
