48th Street Jiu Jitsu

48th Street Jiu Jitsu opened in 2023 to serve the North Hudson area with both traditional gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and no-gi classes. Located in Union City, the academy aims to offer a solid martial arts education alongside Muay Thai striking. The head instructors include Professor Ray, who leads most of the BJJ classes, and Coach Ryan, who focuses on takedown techniques during the weekly “Takedown Tuesdays” sessions. Kids classes are also part of the schedule, taught by Professor Ray and Coach Evin. Students at 48th Street Jiu Jitsu can expect a curriculum that balances fundamentals with live training across gi and no-gi formats. The gi classes form the core of the program, with no-gi offered to complement the traditional approach. Adults have multiple options, including specialized Muay Thai and kickboxing sessions taught by Coaches Rob, Josh, and Ray, providing a chance to develop striking alongside grappling skills. The school welcomes drop-ins, making it accessible for visitors or those trying out different classes.
