Event Description
NEWBREED's Jackson Summer Championship brings the circuit's athlete-safety-first format to Mississippi, with the same youth protections found at every NEWBREED stop. Youth Group 1 (ages 4-11) competes without submissions, Youth Group 2 (12-17) has its own bracket, and adult no-gi divisions are split by experience level — Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced — rather than belt rank, while gi competitors register at their current belt in any gi color. The tournament runs August 29, 2026 at The Ark, 590 Raymond Rd, in Jackson, MS. About NEWBREED
NEWBREED (the NEWBREED Jiu-Jitsu Federation) is a US tournament circuit whose federation was established in 2012. It runs 100+ tournaments a year nationwide with kids-through-adult gi and no-gi divisions and digital bracket management, culminating in The Ultimate Grappler (TUG), its elite no-gi absolute finale.
Rules
NEWBREED runs a long-established tournament circuit (including its Ultimate Challenge events) with gi and no-gi divisions for kids and adults, grouped by age, weight, and experience level. It's a high-volume regional circuit that many competitors use for regular local competition.
NEWBREED publishes its own rulebook with an explicit emphasis on athlete safety, and technique legality scales with age and division level. Read the current NJJF rules before competing — division structures and legal techniques are spelled out there.
