Claim this gymTeam Casarez BJJ in Cary, North Carolina was founded by Tony Casarez, who began teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the Raleigh/Cary area in 2014. With guidance from his mentor, renowned competitor Lucas Lepri, Tony opened the academy’s dedicated location in 2015 to serve the growing interest in BJJ. The school has since become a home base for over 150 students, reflecting steady local roots and an approach shaped by both tradition and hands-on instruction. Classes at Team Casarez are structured around both gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for adults, as well as a dedicated kids’ program. The academy emphasizes practical self-defense and controlled sparring, with a curriculum that supports progression from fundamentals to advanced techniques. The children’s classes are designed to help younger students build confidence, coordination, and focus, while the adult programs offer a balance of technical instruction and live training. The school welcomes visitors and encourages participation in open mat sessions, providing opportunities for students and drop-ins to train with a variety of partners. With its roots in the Lucas Lepri lineage and a focus on steady technical growth, Team Casarez offers a straightforward, mat-tested approach to BJJ for students of all ages.
