Stockman BJJ

Stockman BJJ in Greenwood, Indiana, is led by Alan Stockman, a fourth-degree black belt whose journey in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu began in Fortaleza, Brazil, in 1997. Alan spent nearly four years living, training, and competing in Brazil, earning his early belts under Luiz Filho before returning to the United States. In 2011, he earned his black belt and opened the academy, bringing the direct lineage of Mitsuyo Maeda, Carlos Gracie, Carlson Gracie Sr., and Carlson Gracie Jr. to Greenwood. Alan’s background includes extensive competition experience, MMA bouts, and years spent deepening his understanding of the art both in Brazil and across the U.S. The coaching team features several black belts with diverse competitive and teaching backgrounds. Instructors like Tyler Rahschulte and Tyler Cook have competed across the Midwest and bring a competitor’s mindset to the mat. Roseanne Loichinger, a black belt who joined as a blue belt in 2012, is especially dedicated to working with kids and brings a unique perspective shaped by her experiences both learning and teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Bruna Mascarenhas Harris, who started her martial arts journey in Brazil, and Marco Demo, with a background in multiple disciplines, round out a staff committed to technical skill and personal growth. Stockman BJJ offers a structured class schedule for adults and kids, with gi fundamentals, white belt classes, advanced kids’ training, and no-gi options. Adults can also take part in team sparring, competition classes, and open mats. Younger students have age-appropriate programs starting with Little Warriors (ages 5–8), progressing to fundamentals and advanced classes for older children. The academy also offers kickboxing, reflecting the instructors’ broad training backgrounds. Drop-ins are welcome, and the academy’s day-to-day approach is shaped by decades of training, competition, and a deep connection to the roots of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
