Siesta Key BJJ

Siesta Key BJJ has been a fixture in Sarasota for nearly two decades, led by Professor Thadeu Vieira, a 5th degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt. Professor Vieira has over 30 years of teaching experience and serves as both head instructor and program director, shaping the academy’s curriculum and mentoring a team of black belt instructors. Alongside his work on the mats, he also works with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, bringing the same values of integrity, respect, and accountability to his teaching. The academy is known for its structured approach to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for both kids and adults. Children’s programs focus on discipline, teamwork, and confidence, with classes designed for all ages and experience levels. Many Sarasota families have started their kids at Siesta Key BJJ, attracted by the emphasis on life skills as much as martial arts. For adults, the academy offers both traditional group classes in gi and no-gi, as well as a strong focus on private and semi-private coaching. These one-on-one and small group sessions are tailored for busy professionals, beginners, and anyone looking to progress at their own pace. Classes are held at the academy’s location on Tamiami Trail and include options for open mat, gi, and no-gi training. Drop-ins are welcome, and the facility is wheelchair accessible.
