MANO JIU JITSU

MANO JIU JITSU is led by black belt Jun Hyodo, who brings a competitive pedigree with first-place finishes at the Asian IBJJF Championship in 2023 and the World Master IBJJF Championship in 2017. Alongside Jun, the academy’s instructional team includes multiple black belts such as Rod Amano, AJ Mendoza, and Gordon Kimura, each with their own tournament experience and teaching roles. Founded to spread the positive influence of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu throughout Honolulu’s Manoa Valley, the school operates out of Manoa Marketplace and emphasizes a safe, respectful training environment. The academy offers a structured curriculum that balances fundamental techniques with advanced concepts across gi and no-gi formats. Adult classes cover fundamentals, skill development, and positional sparring designed to sharpen strategy and prepare students for competition without requiring them to compete. Children aged 6 to 12 train in age-appropriate groups focusing on foundational movements, self-defense, and physical conditioning to build strength, flexibility, and endurance. Instructors for the kids’ classes include black belts and a purple belt, ensuring consistent technical guidance. Training options include open mat sessions for additional practice beyond regular classes, and private lessons are available for personalized instruction. The school’s schedule features multiple sessions for kids and adults throughout the week, with tuition structured around monthly class packages. Drop-in students can attend open mats or classes with a fee, provided they complete a waiver. MANO JIU JITSU remains a dedicated space for serious study of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Honolulu.
