3274 Mission St, San Francisco, CA
Magalit Brazilian Jiu Jitsu sits in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission District, led by head coach Travis Magalit. Born and raised in the city—just blocks from the academy—Coach Magalit has deep roots in the neighborhood. He opened his school with the aim of giving back to the Mission and Excelsior areas, focusing on building confidence, leadership, and fitness through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for both kids and adults. The academy is known for its strong No-Gi program, with instruction available throughout the week for all experience levels. While both gi and no-gi classes are offered, the emphasis on competition-tested No-Gi training draws serious grapplers as well as those new to the sport. Open mat sessions provide extra time for students to develop their skills in a less formal setting, and drop-ins are welcome. Magalit BJJ’s facility features a 1,000 square foot training area with 1.5-inch thick Zebra mats, private unisex changing rooms, and a shower. Cleanliness and safety are prioritized, with the mats cleaned after every class. The academy maintains a practical, accessible space with wheelchair access and complimentary WiFi, reflecting its mission to serve a broad local community.
