Claim this gymLycan Mixed Martial Arts in Columbia was founded by Nader Tannir, whose martial arts journey began at age six with kickboxing and led to decades of experience across striking and grappling disciplines. Tannir holds black belts in Shotokan and Kusikian Karate, has trained in Muay Thai for over a decade, and represented Lebanon’s national kickboxing team for ten years. His Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu credentials are equally strong: after earning his black belt from Kristian Woodmansee in 2022, he went on to win bronze at the 2024 IBJJF Pan-American Championships and finished the 2023–24 season ranked #1 Master 1 Super Heavyweight Black Belt and top ten pound-for-pound in the world. Under his leadership, Lycan MMA has claimed three IBJJF team trophies as an independent, unaffiliated academy. Training at Lycan reflects Tannir’s wide-ranging background, offering a blend of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, American Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, MMA, Muay Thai, and boxing. The academy’s BJJ program is grounded in both gi and no-gi practice, with fundamentals and advanced techniques covered by coaches like Brandon Olsen and Jack Meehan. Jack brings a lineage tracing back to Renzo Gracie and Marcelo Garcia, and experience training internationally. Wrestling is led by Coach William, a former D1 wrestler at The Citadel and state champion, who joined Lycan in 2023 to further develop the academy’s grappling depth. Programs at Lycan are structured for both adults and children, with kids’ American Jiu-Jitsu classes emphasizing discipline, resilience, and enjoyment. The gym also welcomes drop-ins for open mat sessions, providing a chance for visiting practitioners to roll and exchange techniques. The result is a training environment shaped by competition-tested coaches and a genuine focus on technical growth—on the feet and on the ground.
