Lotus Jiu Jitsu

Lotus Jiu Jitsu in Seattle is led by Professor Enrique Gomez, a first-degree black belt with over 25 years of martial arts experience and two decades dedicated to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Professor Enrique’s training began under Professor Eduardo Santos, a fourth-degree black belt, and his background also includes Arnis and Vee Arnis Jitsu. Beyond the mats, Enrique is a trained scientist with graduate work in immunology and bone research, and he draws on this knowledge to refine his approach to biomechanics and sports science within BJJ. His instruction is shaped by a commitment to accessibility, working closely with neurodivergent and disabled students, and a belief that the dojo should be open to all. Classes at Lotus are offered six days a week and include fundamental and advanced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the gi for adults, youth, and children. The schedule features programs specifically for kids as young as four, youth up to 21, and a dedicated women’s class. Jessica Gomez, a blue belt, supports the academy’s daily operations and works directly with parents and youth, focusing on equity and culturally responsive training. The academy’s approach is grounded in building self-defense skills, confidence, and consent, with special attention to serving marginalized communities. Lotus Jiu Jitsu maintains a family-oriented structure, with open mat sessions for members and private lessons available by appointment. The academy is located in South Beacon Hill, close to Rainier Beach, and is designed for those looking for technical instruction, personal growth, and practical self-defense. Walk-ins are not accepted, and complimentary trial classes can be arranged in advance.
