9333 Double R Blvd #1100, Reno, NV
Gracie Humaita Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Reno is led by Professor Alexandre Garcia, a third-degree black belt born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Professor Garcia began training at age nine and earned his rank under Professor Marcão, a direct student of Royler Gracie, preserving the Helio Gracie and Humaita tradition. After moving to the U.S. in 2002, Garcia became the head jiu-jitsu instructor at UFC champion Ken Shamrock’s Lion’s Den before establishing his own academy in Reno, bringing together classic Gracie lineage with firsthand MMA coaching experience. The academy’s programs reflect this blend of tradition and evolution. Adults can train in both gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, with classes structured for a range of skill levels. Garcia offers private lessons for students seeking more personalized attention, whether for self-defense, technical refinement, or competition preparation. For younger students, there are separate classes for kids ages 4–9 and 10–13, focusing on confidence, discipline, and anti-bullying skills in a structured environment. With over a decade serving Northern Nevada, the school maintains a practical schedule across two locations in Reno and Sparks. One membership provides access to both, and classes run six days a week. The academy welcomes visitors and drop-ins, and the facility is wheelchair accessible. For those who value authentic Gracie instruction with the added depth of modern MMA influence, Gracie Humaita in Reno offers a direct connection to BJJ’s roots and its ongoing evolution.
