Competitive Edge Combat Sports brings authentic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to Florence, SC, led by a Brazilian instructor trained in Ceara under the Sa lineage—one of the pioneering families of Jiu-Jitsu in that region. The head coach learned directly from a coral-belt professor, son of Master Sa, and carries on a tradition where every stripe and belt is earned through real skill and dedication. The academy has been part of the Florence martial arts scene for over five years, producing students who have competed and placed at national and international levels. At Competitive Edge, the core program is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, with structured classes for both gi and no-gi training. Fundamentals are taught step by step for beginners, while advanced and all-level sessions focus on live drilling and rolling. The academy also runs a dedicated kids and teens program that connects Jiu-Jitsu to anti-bullying strategies, building confidence and discipline from a young age. Women’s self-defense classes and practical self-defense for adults round out the offerings, reflecting a teaching philosophy rooted in real-world application and personal safety. Students can train seven days a week, with group classes, open mats, and private lessons available every shift—including weekends. The facility also supports a full Pee Dee Fitness conditioning floor for those looking to improve their athletic base alongside their grappling. Drop-ins are welcome, and visitors can expect direct, Brazilian-led instruction that holds true to the art’s origins.
