Event Description
The American Grappling Federation runs its own IBJJF-inspired scoring rules along with a distinctive twist: the Coach's Challenge, where a coach can toss a bean bag onto the mat to contest a referee's call. About American Grappling Federation
The American Grappling Federation (AGF) is a Dallas–Fort Worth-based tournament organizer founded in 2011 by Brandon Quick and Chris Carlino. It runs gi and no-gi tournaments for kids and adults across the US using an IBJJF-style points system, its own weight-class and experience-level divisions, and an AGF Pro elite no-gi division.
Rules
The American Grappling Federation (AGF) runs a points-based gi and no-gi tournament circuit, primarily across the southern and central United States, with divisions for kids and adults grouped by age, weight, and experience.
AGF's distinctive rule is its overtime: tied matches go to a sudden-death period where the first competitor to score a point or advantage wins immediately. If overtime also ends level, the referee decides based on who spent longer scoring or attacking submissions. Check the AGF rulebook for current point values and division rules.
