Organized by American Grappling Federation
The 2026 AGF Chattanooga Open is organized by the American Grappling Federation and will take place on September 19, 2026. This event will feature both gi and no-gi competitions at the Chattanooga Convention Center.
The 2026 AGF Chattanooga Open is run by the American Grappling Federation under its own IBJJF-style scoring rules, featuring the promotion's well-known "Coach's Challenge," where a corner can toss a bean bag to formally dispute a referee's call. AGF's roughly 900 age, weight, and experience division combinations — spanning 4-year-old Tiny Kids up through the 50-plus Executives bracket — are designed to give nearly every competitor a closely matched opponent. The Open takes place September 19, 2026 at the Chattanooga Convention Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with gi and no-gi divisions for all ages. AGF requires pre-registration in advance, with no day-before or day-of sign-up available. Register through AGF's Smoothcomp event page linked on this listing.
Registration deadline: September 14, 2026
The American Grappling Federation (AGF) is a Dallas–Fort Worth-based tournament organizer founded in 2011 by Brandon Quick and Chris Carlino. It runs gi and no-gi tournaments for kids and adults across the US using an IBJJF-style points system, its own weight-class and experience-level divisions, and an AGF Pro elite no-gi division.
The American Grappling Federation (AGF) runs a points-based gi and no-gi tournament circuit, primarily across the southern and central United States, with divisions for kids and adults grouped by age, weight, and experience.
AGF's distinctive rule is its overtime: tied matches go to a sudden-death period where the first competitor to score a point or advantage wins immediately. If overtime also ends level, the referee decides based on who spent longer scoring or attacking submissions. Check the AGF rulebook for current point values and division rules.
Always confirm the official rulebook before you compete — organizations update rules between seasons. See the official event page for current rules.
