Wanderley Jiu Jitsu & MMA

Wanderley Jiu Jitsu & MMA was founded in 2020 by Professor Daniel Wanderley, a 5th-degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt under Carlson Gracie Jr. and Gutenberg Melo. After years coaching at renowned gyms such as Carlson Gracie HQ and Roufusport, and working with athletes at the highest levels—including UFC and Bellator champions—Professor Daniel brought his experience home to Milwaukee. His aim is to deliver world-class instruction to every student, whether they are stepping onto the mats for the first time or preparing for major competition. The academy is built on a family-first philosophy, emphasizing real skill development, discipline, and character through martial arts. The day-to-day training at Wanderley covers a broad range of programs. Both gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes are offered for adults and children, with youth classes taught by Gabriel Wanderley, a BJJ black belt and accomplished competitor in his own right. The curriculum also includes MMA, kickboxing, and Muay Thai, led by head striking coach Jordan Mapa—a professional MMA fighter with international coaching credentials. Students can move between grappling and striking, with classes like MMA grappling, takedowns, and sparring rounding out the schedule. This approach gives students the chance to develop a well-integrated game without needing to cross-train elsewhere. Drop-ins are welcome, making the academy accessible for visiting grapplers or locals interested in exploring new training partners. The facility is wheelchair accessible and draws students not only from Milwaukee, but also nearby areas such as Wauwatosa and West Allis. Whether focusing on the technical details of gi jiu jitsu, the speed of no-gi, or the striking arts, each class is taught by instructors with deep experience and a genuine investment in student progress.
