Vilanova Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was founded in 2016 by Professor Alberto “Beto” Vilanova, who brings more than twenty years of experience on the mats to his role as head instructor. Drawing on his background training under top Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coaches, Beto leads the academy with a focus on preserving tradition while helping students of all ages build confidence, discipline, and resilience. The school is located in the heart of Old Town Camarillo and is designed to serve everyone from first-time beginners to dedicated practitioners looking to refine their technique. Classes at Vilanova BJJ are taught by a team of black belt instructors, including Professor Beto, Professor Liz Exell, Professor Talita Nogueira Rezende, and Professor Robson Rezende, who also coaches Muay Thai. The academy offers a structured progression: children as young as four can start in the kids’ BJJ program, which emphasizes focus and coordination through playful learning, while youth classes (ages 7–13) introduce more advanced skills and belt progression. Teens and adults (14+) train in both gi and no-gi formats, with instruction that balances fundamentals and advanced concepts. The schedule also includes wrestling for youth and teens, as well as self-defense workshops and private lessons for students seeking focused attention. The facility itself is modern, clean, and wheelchair accessible, with high-quality mats and amenities. Vilanova BJJ maintains a family-oriented atmosphere, welcoming students from all backgrounds—parents, professionals, and athletes alike. Every class is structured to ensure clear instruction and steady growth, with an emphasis on community and personal development both on and off the mats.
