Paragon Brazilian Jiu Jitsu of Camarillo was founded in June 2024 by Trayvon Lang, who began his BJJ journey in Ventura in 2009 and trained extensively under Ricardo “Franjinha” Miller at Paragon HQ. With over 15 years on the mats and nearly a decade teaching, Lang emphasizes a practical approach that blends traditional techniques with modern adaptations, focusing on real-life application and personal growth. The academy aims to guide students through their individual paths, regularly checking in to adjust training and support goals. Classes at Paragon include fundamentals and intermediate/advanced gi instruction, no-gi sessions, and youth gi classes, all designed to build skills progressively. The curriculum balances technical drilling with live training, and open mat sessions are available for additional practice. Kids’ classes cater to younger practitioners, while adults have multiple opportunities throughout the week to train, with sessions scheduled Monday through Saturday. Safety is prioritized, with instruction tailored to minimize injury risk and foster a controlled training environment. Located near the 101 Freeway in Camarillo, the academy welcomes students from across Ventura County. The coaching team includes Lang as head instructor, supported by youth coaches Isaiah and Joel Plaza. Their teaching style focuses on clear, straightforward explanations to help students understand techniques efficiently, making the gym a place where both self-defense and competition-oriented training coexist. The facility is wheelchair accessible, reflecting an inclusive approach to martial arts education.
