Twisted Gi Jiu Jitsu Academy

Twisted Gi Jiu Jitsu Academy is led by Professor Joe Sveska, who began training martial arts in 1992 and started Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2012. After teaching as a blue belt since 2014, he earned his black belt in 2022 under Professor Antwan Fresh, a third-degree black belt in the lineage of Master Joe Moreira. This connection shapes the academy’s approach, grounding it in a traditional BJJ framework while emphasizing steady skill development and personal growth. The academy offers structured classes for kids and adults, with foundational sessions early in the week for beginners and intermediate students, followed by advanced classes to deepen technique and strategy. Saturday mornings provide an additional opportunity for adult beginners and advanced practitioners alike. The curriculum balances physical conditioning, technical drilling, and mental focus, reflecting Professor Joe’s belief in martial arts as a tool for self-improvement beyond just competition. Located in a 2,200-square-foot facility in Wixom, Michigan, Twisted Gi maintains a clean, accessible training space equipped to support a variety of training needs.
