Claim this gymAhmad (Alex) Zahabi is presented as the head coach of Tristar Burlington BJJ and his teaching history shapes everyday life at the gym. Zahabi began coaching in Montreal in 2002 while still a purple belt, founded Burlington BJJ in 2009 and received his black belt in 2013; those decades of continuous coaching show up in class structure — warmups and technical drills emphasise positional detail, and advanced sessions layer competitive strategies that reflect long-term athlete development. The instruction team includes experienced coloured belts and multiple black belts who share responsibilities across the schedule. Coaches listed on the instructors page — Emily McGivern, Chris Hood, Geoff Liang, Victor McLean and others — bring a mix of competitive experience and a focus on fundamentals: classes range from beginner technical lessons to competition-oriented sessions, and brown-belt Alex Gillespie coaches contemporary, rules-specific work. Biographies on the site note tournament experience at Pan Ams, Worlds and European events for several staff and students, which informs the coaching emphasis for competitors. Tristar Burlington BJJ operates from 1167 Pettit Road in Burlington, Ontario, and posts a full schedule, membership and contact options on its website. The phone number listed for the gym is (289) 208-2551 and the site links to an Instagram account for class updates and photos. Physical layout and class offerings are described on the site as a smaller, community-focused academy within the Greater Toronto Area, with practical details and a free-trial option referenced online.
