Toledo Jiu Jitsu Center

Toledo Jiu Jitsu Center has been a fixture in the Toledo martial arts scene for over 25 years, operating out of a 4,000-square-foot facility that includes 1,750 square feet of mat space. The academy was shaped under the guidance of Chris Blanke, an IBJJF-certified 4th degree black belt and former ISJJA World Champion, who designed its programs to serve everyone from beginners to advanced practitioners. The school also serves as the national headquarters for Badger Style BJJ, with more than 20 brown and black belts training regularly and a history of producing over 40 world titles. Training at Toledo Jiu Jitsu Center is structured around traditional gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes for both kids and adults, with a curriculum that emphasizes self-defense, discipline, and resilience. The kids’ program includes bullyproofing elements alongside technical instruction, starting from age four. Adults follow a progression that encourages perseverance and goal-setting, supported by open mat sessions that provide additional practice opportunities. The academy maintains a practical approach to teaching, focusing on developing effective techniques and mental toughness. The facility supports its training with amenities designed for comfort and convenience, including male and female locker rooms, showers, cardio equipment, and wheelchair accessibility. These features contribute to a training environment that prioritizes focus and organization. The academy also highlights a culture that values sportsmanship and camaraderie among its practitioners, aiming to foster long-term development both on and off the mats.
