Three Brothers Jiu Jitsu

Three Brothers Jiu Jitsu operates out of Lake Charles, Louisiana, as a veteran-owned and family-focused academy dedicated to practical training for all ages. The academy is under the direction of Bryan Istre, who leads most adult and kids classes and brings experience from coaching wrestling, jiu jitsu, and mixed martial arts. The school is structured to give students a solid foundation, emphasizing consistent progress and real-world application of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The kids program is built to help children gain confidence, discipline, and social skills through structured training and teamwork. There are classes for both younger children and older kids, all taught in the gi, with a clear goal of helping students handle physically demanding situations with self-control. For adults, the schedule includes beginner and all-level classes, lunch sessions, and open mats, making it possible for students to train seven days a week. The academy offers a Homeschool Lunch Class, providing a flexible option for families with nontraditional schedules. Three Brothers also supports women’s training with dedicated women’s classes led by Candice Thomas, creating a space where women can develop self-defense skills and confidence among peers. In addition to jiu jitsu, the academy offers yoga sessions with Halee Richard, rounding out its approach to physical fitness and well-being. The school welcomes drop-ins, maintains wheelchair accessibility, and keeps its doors open to students from any team affiliation, reflecting a practical and inclusive training environment.
