The Academy of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Arvada

The Academy of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Arvada is led by Professor Robert G. Wunderlich, Jr., a black belt whose teaching team includes several experienced black and brown belts with lineages reaching back to the art’s founders. Located in Arvada, Colorado, the academy puts a strong emphasis on helping students of all ages build confidence, focus, and discipline through practical training. The team’s collective decades of experience are reflected in the structure and depth of their programs, which are designed to help children and adults alike develop both on and off the mats. Youth instruction is a major focus at Arvada BJJ, with classes tailored to specific age groups, starting as young as age five. The academy offers a progression from beginner to advanced youth classes, including options for teens and specialized intermediate/advanced training for kids who want to go deeper in the art. Anti-bullying education and respect are woven into the curriculum, and there are dedicated instructors for each level. For the youngest students, a 3–5 year old class introduces the basics in a safe and engaging format. Adults at the academy can choose from fundamental and advanced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes in the gi, with no-gi and submission grappling options available at the higher levels. There are also women’s-only intermediate/advanced sessions, adult kickboxing, and frequent open mats, including a community open mat that welcomes visitors from all affiliations. With wheelchair accessibility and a flexible schedule, the academy makes it possible for a broad range of students to train consistently and progress at their own pace.
