SQUAD Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was founded in Osceola, Florida by black belt Jorge Oliveira, whose journey from São Paulo, Brazil to Kissimmee is marked by resilience and a deep commitment to the art. Jorge began his martial arts training as a child in karate, but found his true calling in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, training under Ricardo and Eduardo Arrivabene before earning his black belt from Danny Abu of the Macaco Gold Team in 2013. After overcoming a life-changing spinal injury and returning to win again on the competition mats, Jorge established Squad BJJ to create more than just a place to train—he set out to build a second home for students of all backgrounds and ages. The academy’s coaching staff brings a championship pedigree to every class. Alongside Jorge, instructors like Lívia Santos and Manuella Santos have collected accolades at the highest levels, including multiple IBJJF World and Pan American medals, World No-Gi and American National titles. This experience shapes a teaching philosophy rooted in discipline, resilience, and high standards, with every coach still active on the competition circuit. The team’s approach is to develop champions both on the mat and in life, emphasizing consistency, inclusion, and mutual support. Training at Squad BJJ covers a wide spectrum: adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in both gi and no-gi formats, wrestling, Muay Thai, and a dedicated women’s BJJ program focused on takedowns and top-game control. Kids’ classes are divided by age, with Little Champs (ages 4–6), Youth BJJ (ages 7–12), and a competition team for young athletes. The facility itself is purpose-built, featuring a large mat area, MMA cage, heavy bag stations, and a strength and conditioning floor. Classes run six days a week, with early morning, evening, and weekend options to fit busy schedules. Families are common on the mats, and long-term students often describe the academy as their second home.
