Sintonia Jiu Jitsu was founded by Jeferson Guaresi, an IBJJF No-Gi World Champion and black belt under Professor Murilo Santana of Unity Jiu Jitsu. With over sixteen years of experience on the mats, Guaresi leads the academy in Midtown East, New York, bringing the technical depth and competition mindset of the Unity lineage into every class. Sintonia’s instructors include Jayden Cardenas, a youth head instructor with his own IBJJF No-Gi World title and NCAA wrestling credentials, and Franco Diaz, a black belt with international podium experience. The academy’s schedule reflects a strong foundation in traditional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, with daily fundamentals gi classes anchoring the program for adults. All levels gi sessions, women’s only classes, and regular no-gi grappling classes provide a well-structured progression for students of varying backgrounds and goals. Open mat sessions are held on Sundays and throughout the week, giving members plenty of time for sparring and technical review. Sintonia also offers a “BJJ Strong NY” class, adding another layer of training variety for committed practitioners. For younger athletes, the kids program runs multiple days each week and is led by instructors with both BJJ and wrestling experience. The curriculum emphasizes confidence, discipline, and real-world self-defense skills. Drop-ins are welcome, and first-timers are encouraged to start with a private intro session to get familiar with the team and the academy’s approach. Sintonia Jiu Jitsu is rooted in a competitive tradition but keeps its focus on personal growth, discipline, and technical excellence for all who step on the mats.
