10th Planet NYC No-Gi Jiu Jitsu was founded to bring the original 10th Planet system straight from Los Angeles to the heart of New York. Head instructor Rey “StingReyRey” De Leon earned every belt under Eddie Bravo at 10th Planet HQ, spending years immersed in the system’s home base and competing in events like Ultimate May Warriors, Fight2Win, Kasai, and Combat Jiu Jitsu Worlds. Alongside Rey, coach and chief of operations Cece Mena holds a brown belt awarded directly by Bravo and brings her own competitive experience from IBJJF No-Gi and sub-only events. The academy’s roots run directly to HQ, and its teaching is built to reflect the standards set there—no shortcuts and no watered-down technique. The academy is structured around the 10th Planet no-gi curriculum, with classes for every stage of a student’s progression. Beginners start with Intro to Jiu Jitsu and Basics, where foundational positions and submissions are broken down in detail. Intermediate and advanced sessions challenge experienced grapplers with higher-paced drilling, live sparring, and specialized classes like leg locks and EBI Overtime rounds, following the rules used in Eddie Bravo’s signature tournament format. Wrestling instruction is also part of the weekly program, emphasizing takedowns and control for submission grappling. 10th Planet NYC offers adult and kids’ no-gi classes, with open mat sessions available for extra training and visitors. The gym’s approach is clear: the system and the training come first, not the ego of any one instructor. Students—whether hobbyists or competitors—train in a lineage that leads directly to the source, surrounded by coaches who have lived and breathed the 10th Planet method from its origin.
