Claim this gymSHUHARI Martial Arts has taught in Barrie since 1992 and operates from a purpose-built two-storey facility at 41 Commerce Park Drive. The academy name SHUHARI Martial Arts is tied to a multi-discipline curriculum that the school presents as Goju Karate, Japanese jujutsu for self-defence, and striking fundamentals including boxing and Muay Thai elements. The current location opened in 2008 after the original downtown dojo years earlier. Brian Marett is the owner and chief instructor and is presented as a full-time career martial artist with 33 years' experience, multiple senior ranks and instructor certifications. His work extends beyond the academy into law-enforcement training and community safety initiatives related to officer safety and victim support, which informs the school's emphasis on practical self-defence rather than competitive sport. SHUHARI runs structured streams for kids (5–12), teens (13–17) and adults, and posts a weekly schedule on its website showing multiple weekday evening classes for each program. Membership details available include monthly rates in Canadian dollars (HST extra), family discounts, automatic monthly billing and a two-month notice cancellation policy; the site also notes trial-class options and that membership types include unlimited classes.
