Rogue Combat Club 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Asheville has anchored Asheville’s martial arts scene since 2013, under the leadership of owner and head instructor Johnny Buck. A retired MMA fighter and 10th Planet black belt, Buck established the area’s first 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu program, building a decade-long local lineage that’s become a cornerstone for no-gi grappling in western North Carolina. The coaching staff includes experienced MMA fighters, accomplished wrestlers, and decorated Muay Thai competitors, many of whom have called Rogue their home since its earliest days. The academy’s core Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu curriculum follows the 10th Planet system—emphasizing no-gi technique for all levels. Classes are structured to accommodate both absolute beginners and those seeking high-level competition training. Alongside BJJ, Rogue offers a full slate of striking arts, with Muay Thai led by Coach Duece Carter, as well as wrestling and MMA instruction. Kids martial arts classes introduce the next generation to grappling and striking fundamentals, with a focus on confidence and discipline. Rogue Combat Club operates out of a wheelchair-accessible facility on Tunnel Road, offering a clean, ego-free space for training. The schedule includes adult and kids classes throughout the week, and the academy is known for supporting personal growth whether a student’s goal is self-defense, fitness, or competition. The staff and volunteer coaches bring a practical, hands-on approach, drawing from years of experience on the mats and in the ring.
