Renzo Gracie BJJ – Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy in Colorado Springs is led by Professor Avi Kashub, who brings more than 25 years of experience to the mats. Professor Avi’s journey began in 1995 with the Carlson Gracie Team under Professor Marcus Silveira, continued through years of training with the Valente Brothers—where he developed a strong foundation in self-defense—and progressed under Dustin “Clean” Denes to brown belt. He ultimately received his black belt from Professor Stan Beck at the Renzo Gracie Training Center in Weston, Florida, with Master Renzo Gracie’s approval. After relocating to Colorado in 2017, Professor Avi opened this academy to share the art that shaped his life, guided by his background in physical therapy and emergency medicine to prioritize student safety and effective learning. The academy offers structured programs for both adults and children, starting as young as age 5. Kids’ classes are divided into two groups: ages 5–7 and ages 8–12, with an emphasis on building confidence, focus, and discipline through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fundamentals. Adults train in a system that balances real-world self-defense with physical fitness and technical progression, following the Renzo Gracie lineage. Professor Avi’s teaching style draws on his decades of mat time and his commitment to safe, professional instruction, ensuring students of all ages and backgrounds can progress at their own pace. In addition to regular classes, the academy hosts open mat sessions for adults, welcoming visitors and drop-ins. The facility is wheelchair accessible and located on Star Ranch Road in Colorado Springs.
