Renan Borjes Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu And New England United BJJ is run by Renan Borjes, a black belt with deep ties to the New England grappling scene. Borjes brings years of experience on the mats, focusing on building a strong foundation in traditional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques while adapting to the evolving demands of modern competition. The academy’s location on Main Street in Medford provides easy access for students throughout the area. Classes at the gym cover a range of skill levels, with an emphasis on drilling fundamentals and progressing through more advanced concepts as students develop. Training includes both gi and no-gi sessions, allowing practitioners to refine their grips and submissions in the traditional kimono as well as the faster-paced no-gi format. The schedule also supports open mat times where students can spar and exchange techniques in a less structured setting. The facility offers convenient parking for those coming from nearby towns, making it accessible for regular training. While the academy focuses primarily on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, there is attention to creating a space where students can work on competition preparation and private lessons as needed. The approach centers on steady improvement and practical application rather than flashy techniques or gimmicks.
