Brazil-021 Boston School of Jiu Jitsu brings the heritage of Rio de Janeiro to Medford under the vision of founders Andre "Negão" Terencio and Hannette Staack, both accomplished Brazilian black belts. Founded on the belief that jiu-jitsu should build character as well as skill, the academy honors its roots with a name that nods to Rio’s telephone code, reflecting a tradition that stretches from Brazil to students around the world. The Boston school follows the Brazil-021 philosophy that the growth of the individual matters more than medals. Training here is grounded in respect for the traditional hierarchy of jiu-jitsu, with an emphasis on teamwork, etiquette, and shared respect on and off the mats. Programs are structured to welcome men, women, and children of all backgrounds, including those new to martial arts, and focus on health, self-confidence, and mental toughness as much as technical development. Students at Brazil-021 Boston can expect core Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes for every age group, with both gi and no-gi training available. The academy also offers self-defense and anti-bullying instruction, and extends its teaching to organizations through a dedicated corporate program.
