Red River BJJ in Wichita Falls was founded by Professors Ben and Vanessa Lozano, both black belts and U.S. Air Force veterans. The academy was built with a clear purpose: to offer high-quality Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for students of all ages, with a strong emphasis on character development, confidence, and practical self-defense. Ben directs all training, focusing on technical growth at every level, while Vanessa leads the Women's Only and LilFu Fighters programs, ensuring a supportive and empowering environment on the mats. The kids’ program at Red River is a pillar of the academy, offering structured classes for ages 4–6 (LilFu Fighters), and a comprehensive progression for juniors 7–14 in both gi and no-gi. Younger children focus on coordination, respect, and listening skills through playful BJJ-centered activities. Juniors develop strong fundamentals, discipline, and self-defense skills, with separate advanced classes for those interested in competition. The youth coaching staff includes dedicated instructors like Coach Edy and Rachel Slaughter, who bring both technical skill and experience working with children to every session. For adults, the academy provides a full schedule of gi and no-gi classes, including fundamentals, advanced sessions, and competition training. Unique offerings such as Early Bird classes at 5:30 am, a Pirates class for those 35 and older, and Women's Only BJJ reflect the gym’s commitment to making training accessible and meaningful for every stage of life. Striking is also part of the curriculum, with kickboxing and conditioning led by coaches with experience in Muay Thai and boxing. Open mats and drop-in training are welcomed, and the academy is proud to serve military families and the broader Wichita Falls area.
