Raposo BJJ Academy

Raposo BJJ Academy in Slidell, Louisiana, is built around a curriculum that adapts to each student’s needs and goals. The academy’s teaching structure covers every stage of learning, from fundamentals to advanced drills, and offers both gi and no-gi classes for adults and kids. The academy was founded in 2023 by Professor Erick Raposo, a third-degree black belt from Brazil with over twenty years of experience in both competition and teaching. Professor Raposo is an IBJJF-certified instructor and referee, and his achievements include championships at the Brazilian and American Nationals, Pan Ams, and World level in both gi and no-gi divisions. He leads a team of instructors who bring diverse backgrounds in martial arts, sports medicine, and competition. Notably, Professor Kennedy Franklin, a No-Gi Worlds champion and advocate for women’s self-defense, and Professor Stephanie Williamson, a five-time black belt world champion, both earned their black belts under Professor Raposo and help run the school’s women’s and youth programs. Raposo BJJ Academy puts strong emphasis on technical precision and personal progress, tailoring instruction to the individual—whether that means helping a young child build confidence, supporting a parent training alongside their kids, or guiding athletes toward tournament success.
