Olympic Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Olympic Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Sulphur, Louisiana is led by Professor Tyler Scalisi, a black belt with over fourteen years of teaching experience and a history of top-ten IBJJF lightweight rankings. Professor Tyler cofounded the Início Jiu Jitsu Association alongside Erick Raposo, and his vision for Olympic is shaped by years of competition and a genuine commitment to sharing the art. He’s joined by Professor Ryan Charles, a black belt under Tyler who brings both Jiu Jitsu and MMA perspective to the mats, especially in youth and adult classes. Training at Olympic is built around the idea that martial arts are tools for personal growth. The curriculum covers gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for all ages, with structured programs for both adults and children. Kids start in Tiny Ninjas and Little Ninjas classes, available in both gi and no-gi formats, and those who want to challenge themselves further can join the Kids Competition Class. Adults have access to gi fundamentals, all-levels classes, dedicated no-gi sessions, and a focused Adult Competition class. The academy also offers open mats and welcomes drop-ins, reflecting its open-door approach to visitors and travelers. The team at Olympic puts special emphasis on patient, individualized coaching and a family atmosphere where students are encouraged to push themselves at their own pace. Law enforcement training, women’s classes, and programs for every stage of development are part of the schedule, all underpinned by the Início Jiu Jitsu Association’s broader network and philosophy. The academy is wheelchair accessible and aims to make Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu accessible to as many people as possible in the Sulphur area.
