Claim this gymNorth Georgia Hayastan MMA is rooted in the Hayastan Freestyle fighting system, a hybrid martial arts approach founded by Gene LeBell and Gokor Chyvichyan. Since opening in Dalton, Georgia in 2008, the academy has focused on blending Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Sambo, Catch Wrestling, Muay Thai, American Kickboxing, and Boxing into a practical system for self-defense and competition. The school has developed a competition team across all ages, with several members earning titles in submission grappling, boxing, and MMA bouts. Training at North Georgia Hayastan involves a variety of striking and grappling disciplines, with classes organized by skill and age group. The schedule includes fundamentals and advanced sessions in grappling, kickboxing, boxing, and MMA, plus specialized kids’ programs like Little Grasshopper Grapple and Strike. The academy also offers wrestling and Judo/Jiu-Jitsu classes to complement its freestyle curriculum. Open mat sessions provide extra time for adults to drill and spar outside of structured classes. The academy operates from a 7,100-square-foot facility in Dalton featuring a full MMA octagon, professional boxing ring, and training equipment such as heavy bags, speed bags, and free weights. Showers, changing rooms, and a pro shop support the training environment. North Georgia Hayastan serves men, women, and children, aiming to build self-confidence, fitness, and competitive skill through a hands-on, combative arts approach.
