Magnolia Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is guided by black belts Scott Caldwell and Mike Stokes, both having trained for over a decade under Tony Torres-Aponte at Urban Jungle Self Defense. Their instruction reflects a lineage that traces back to Royce Gracie, emphasizing a comprehensive self-defense system. The academy’s mission centers on delivering this curriculum in a safe setting that supports beginners across all ages, from young children to adults well into their 60s. Classes at Magnolia BJJ are structured around gi training, with separate sessions for kids starting as young as four years old, teenagers, and adults. The kids’ program covers two age brackets—4 to 6 and 7 to 14—allowing instruction to be tailored developmentally. Adult and teenage students also have access to open mat sessions, providing additional time to drill techniques and spar beyond formal classes.
