Magic Brazilian BJJ was founded with a clear purpose: to offer a place in Lansing where the art and science of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu could be studied in detail, with a focus on technical mastery and precision. The academy’s philosophy is rooted in the idea of Jiu-Jitsu as “human chess,” where each movement is deliberate and every technique is refined over time. This approach shapes the way classes are taught and how students develop, regardless of their background or goals. At Magic BJJ, adults can train in both gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, with dedicated classes for each format. For those interested in competition, there is a no-gi competition class designed to push students further and prepare them for the demands of tournament grappling. The schedule also includes open mat sessions where students can practice at their own pace, as well as Judo and takedown classes that help round out the grappling skill set. Yoga is offered as a complement to the martial arts training, supporting mobility and recovery. Younger students are welcomed through a youth gi program that introduces kids to the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in a structured setting. Drop-ins are allowed for most adult classes, making it easy for visitors or those new to the area to get a feel for the academy.
