At Jesse Palmer Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, students work directly under Jesse Palmer, a black belt under Bruno “Tank” Mendes and a lifelong competitor with deep roots in both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and mixed martial arts. Jesse’s journey began with Soul Fighters, and he remains dedicated to building technical skill and personal discipline on the mats in Plano. His lineage traces directly from Mitsuyo Maeda through Carlos and Helio Gracie, Francisco and Alvaro Mansor, down to Bruno Mendes before Jesse received his black belt—the first American to do so under Bruno in 2016. Classes at this academy are split between traditional gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and no-gi sessions that blend in wrestling fundamentals. Adult students can expect a mix of technical instruction, positional drilling, live rolling, and focused wrestling work, reflecting Jesse’s own background in high-level IBJJF competition, MMA, and Muay Thai. Drop-ins are welcome, and the facility is wheelchair accessible. Jesse’s coaching is shaped by his experience medaling at events like the American Nationals, Dallas Open, and World Championships, alongside his ongoing academic pursuits. His approach is practical and direct, emphasizing discipline, competition readiness, and a strong sense of teamwork. The academy welcomes adults of all backgrounds, with programs aimed at building confidence and lasting training partnerships on and off the mats.
